Rhode Island DCYF Named 2018 Leading Example of Contracting for Outcomes

July 10, 2018

Rhode Island's Department of Children, Youth, and Families was highlighted as the nation’s single leading example of contracting for outcomes by the organization Results for America in its 2018 Invest in What Works State Standard of Excellence. Within the standard, the “contracting for outcomes” criterion is based upon an agency’s use of active contract management and/or performance-based contracts to improve outcomes for publicly funded programs. The Standard of Excellence sets a national standard – a “north star” – for how state governments can consistently and effectively use data and evidence in budget, policy, and management decisions to achieve better outcomes for their residents.
