Luis Camacho
Project Leader
Luis Camacho is a Project Leader on the Research and Writing team, where he develops products that disseminate research and insights from the GPL’s three policy areas and supports GPL-wide initiatives.
Prior to joining the GPL, Luis spent more than 15 years in international development, conducting applied research and evaluations to inform programs in areas such as community-based development, local governance, social protection, and women’s empowerment. Most recently, as a Senior Technical Advisor at Social Impact Inc., he served as Director of Research for a contract supporting the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance at the U.S. Agency for International Development. In this and previous roles, he conducted studies to assess program effectiveness and tackle policy challenges and developed user-friendly products to disseminate evidence and inform decision-making.
Luis holds a PhD and an MA in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, Peru. A native Spanish speaker, he lives in Weybridge, Vermont, with his wife and two daughters.
