Government Innovation Fellow

Keiana West is a Government Innovation Fellow on the Children & Families team supporting youth mental health work. In this role, she is assisting the State of Michigan in reducing emergency department visits among children and adolescents experiencing mental health crises.

Prior to joining the GPL, Keiana worked alongside local governments such as the City of St. Louis on prioritizing community-led solutions in efforts to redesign public safety systems. She also provided project management support for national learning cohorts advancing community-based alternatives to policing, including community violence intervention, community crisis response, and public health approaches to traffic safety and school safety. Previously, her work focused on building community coalitions across the U.S. to address historical racial injustice, as well as implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks at an education non-profit in South Africa.

Keiana holds a MPA from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs, as well as a BA in Psychology and a concentration in Africana Studies from Williams College. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exploring new trails, playing word games, and experimenting in the kitchen.
