Kaitlin Tufts is a Government Innovation Fellow on the Children and Families team, where she focuses on projects related to upstream prevention. Kaitlin is working on an initiative to develop and test a new child and family well-being system by moving away from punitive child welfare interventions and increasing access to voluntary, community-based supports for families.

Prior to joining the GPL, Kaitlin worked in child welfare in New York City and New Hampshire, holding direct service positions in case management, family reunification and stabilization, foster home licensing and support, and family therapy. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga and worked in international grant-making before beginning her work in child welfare. Kaitlin holds a Master of Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work at CUNY-Hunter College and a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Colgate University. She is also a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Maine, where she resides. In her free time, Kaitlin enjoys getting outside, trying (and promptly abandoning) a variety of artistic endeavors, and playing the role of auntie to many adorable children.
