Gabriela Solis

Gabriela Solis is a Project Leader for the Government Performance Lab, where she works on diversion and alternatives to the criminal justice system. Currently, she leads the Alternative 9-1-1 Emergency Response initiative where she oversees projects that provide technical assistance to governments seeking to improve outcomes for residents by diverting 9-1-1 calls to unarmed trained professionals equipped to offer connection to supportive services such as mental and behavioral health, crisis, substance use, and other forms of support. In her past project, Gabriela worked with the Harris County Sheriff's Office to improve the County’s diversion and pre-arrest services to reduce jail usage and subsequent justice system involvement. Gabriela earned a Master of Social Welfare and Master of Public Policy from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Prior to the GPL, Gabriela worked with the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Initiative to conduct data research to help advance advocacy efforts pertaining to critical domestic policy issues affecting communities of color and served as Co-Director of Case Management for Bruin Shelter, a shelter for college students experiencing homelessness. Gabriela also holds a BA in Gender Studies and Sociology from UCLA.
