Elliot Karl is a Government Innovation Fellow based in Chicago, IL, supporting the Opportunity Accelerator (OA) and other economic mobility projects at the Government Performance Lab.
Prior to joining the GPL, he worked in affordable housing and eviction defense non-profits and at municipal transportation departments in the Bay Area. His local government experience at the cities of San Francisco and Oakland includes capital financial planning, fund management, public engagement, and reconfiguring capital budget prioritization practices to address racial disparities and reflect community values. Outside of work, he regularly invests in local community organizing projects and political campaigns.
Elliot graduated with a Masters of Public Policy (MPP) with a Certificate in Municipal Finance from the University of Chicago in June 2020. He also holds a Bachelors of Arts (BA) from Grinnell College where he majored in Gender, Women's, & Sexuality Studies and Economics. He is an AmeriCorps alumnus.
