Amelia Capone
Government Innovation Fellow
Amelia was a Government Innovation Fellow with the GPL Procurement and Economic Mobility Team. Embedded in the City of Syracuse, she worked with the local government’s Innovations Team to transform their contracting and procurement systems as a tool to increase vendor diversity and improve services provided to their constituents.
Prior to joining the GPL, Amelia worked for two years with the environmental NGO Rainforest Alliance (RA), where she managed and tracked the organization’s Communities and Landscapes grants, totaling over $120 million. She led internal and external coordination, preparation, and logging of 200+ deliverables per year. In this role, she also spearheaded the development and implementation of new protocols and tools for improved inter-departmental coordination, holistic grants and data management, donor stewardship, and the achievement of contractual obligations for RA’s funding portfolio of European and US government agencies, UN agencies, and corporate foundations. In addition, Amelia previously led a two-year community development project in La Jalca, Amazonas, Peru, as a Community Health Volunteer with the Peace Corps. There, she developed and implemented a program to address the most critical needs identified through an on-site diagnostic study, including the rates of chronic malnourishment in children and teenage pregnancy, with a focus on achieving lasting results through training local women as Health Promoters, youth mentoring and coaching, and collaborative project design and management. Amelia also served as an elected representative for her peers to work with Peace Corps Senior Staff and Directors to improve program efficacy and sustainability.
Amelia holds a dual BA in Anthropology and Global Health and Health Policy from Harvard University.
