Belan Antensaye
Government Innovation Fellow
Belan Antensaye is a Government Innovation Fellow on the Children and Families team where she is working with the Maryland Governor’s Office of Performance Improvement. In this role, she is supporting the implementation of AI tools to enhance unemployment insurance delivery as part of a broader initiative to end child poverty in Maryland.
Prior to the GPL, Belan co-founded the Vermont Health Equity Initiative, where she served as Programs Director and led projects focused on integrating equity into emergency response, public health systems, and community resilience efforts. She previously served as Strategy and Innovation Manager in the City of Burlington, where she worked on data-driven policy initiatives to address racial disparities and improve municipal decision-making. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led cross-sector efforts to expand vaccine access across Vermont.
Her broader experience includes research and civic design work with organizations such as The Lab @ DC and healthcare consulting for St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Belan holds an MPA from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs and a B.A. in Biology & Society from Cornell University. Outside of work, she enjoys playing intramural soccer and going on long walks.
